N64 Game #1/296: Mortal Kombat Trilogy
So I was truly struggling where to start with these reviews. Do I start with games I love, do I start with games I haven't played, what is the best way to move forward?
I landed on removing favoritism and trying my best to keep a level head. With that, I pulled out the trust random number generator and after a few rerolls (It really wanted me to play about 5 racing games in the first 10 games) I have identified the first 10 games for review.
Making the debut review is....Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
Man I wanted to love this game, I've always loved playing Mortal Kombat in arcades and with my friends and wife! It looked incredible on paper, a great roster of characters and stellar use of the C buttons. However, it just felt....empty. Loading up this game was challenging, the difficulty was through the roof, even on the lower difficulties. It also has THE WORST menu i have ever seen in my life, whoever approved the floating (north and south) menu buttons didn't take into account the inability to read them while they move!
Overall, this was fine. It wasn't anything amazing but it did what it promised, it gave every opportunity and then pulled a Fatality and buried me in the ground. I'll be blunt, I didn't even spend the full hour playing this one. After about 45 minutes, I had to stop.
